When are You Going to Learn that Texas Hold’em Poker is About Seating!
Posted in Poker on 01/29/2011 05:21 am by MarcusI’ve been betting poker now for about five years, I’ve played cards my entire life beginning with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various types of Brag and basic random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so eloquently called, card on head game. I used to always win, whatever game we were wagering and although I liked to call it skill, it was incredibly hard to warrant thinking about the randomness of the games we were wagering, so I was happy to accept I was having a long run of good fortune.
Then came Poker, or more importantly Texas hold em Poker, made famous by a bunch of Texas card gamblers in the 60’s and since developed into one of the largest card phenomena ever witnessed. Poker is totally the new black, it really is ultra awesome with quite a few of the world’s leading superstars racing to have their name associated with it. Just a quick flick through the TV channels nowadays and you can not escape from poker, and obviously there’s the fabled World Series of Poker, the Holy Grail and Mecca all rolled into one for each single player.
So with all of this new discovered recognition, with so numerous Television shows devoted to poker, and magazine and book shelves loaded up with high quality material written by the foremost minds on poker, when are folks going to learn that this casino game is all about position!?
Perhaps I must not have so worked up about this, after all the a lot more persons who have difficulty with the subtle tactics and methods needed for winning regularly at Hold em, the better it’s for everyone else, right? I mean, if they can’t be troubled to look at all of the offered information about why location is so important, why ought to we bother? We really should just be glad there’s another fish at the table!
It is true, we must not reward inactivity with guidance and assist. However, I liken this to a helpful game of football. Granted the stakes aren’t so good, but when you notice a player struggling, you assist them, provide them a number of advice, ultimately showing them a way to get pleasure from, really like and appreciate the casino game as much as you. I’m calling on all home players to do a similar thing with their poker friends who haven’t quite grasped the nuances of betting position. Assist them to grow their respect for the casino game. Naturally, don’t attempt to try this one in your neighborhood betting house, the sharks will not appreciate you teaching their supper how to swim!
