Web Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Posted in Poker on 09/07/2018 04:27 am by MarcusGus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the final game in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest enthusiasts around the world. While betting on web poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I know Hansen is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy-in.
Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The best players in the world could be players you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be found betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in high stakes omaha hi-low and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in cash rounds?
