Internet High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Posted in Poker on 03/22/2025 06:25 pm by MarcusGus Hansen had an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the final poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest bettors anywhere in the world. While playing online poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He regularly competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless he is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy in.
Buying in for the min takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the best poker players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full dollar value. I think television can skew our view of the real world at times. The greatest poker players in the world may be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be found gambling on web poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in big stakes omaha high and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in money rounds?
