Omaha Hi Low: General Summary

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is commonly seen as one of the most difficult but well-loved poker variations. It is a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, aims for play from all levels of players. This is the main reason why a once invisible game, has grown in acceptance so rapidly.
Omaha hi low starts exactly like a regular game of Omaha. 4 cards are dealt to every player. A round of wagering ensues where players can bet, check, or drop out. 3 cards are handed out, this is referred to as the flop. Another round of wagering happens. Once all the players have either called or folded, another card is revealed on the turn. an additional sequence of betting ensues at which point the river card is revealed. The entrants will have to make the strongest high and low 5 card hands using the board and hole cards.
This is where some entrants often get flustered. Unlike Holdem, in which the board can be every player’s hand, in Omaha hi lo the player must use precisely three cards from the board, and precisely 2 cards from their hand. No more, no less. Contrary to regular Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot might be won: the "higher hand" or the "low hand."
A high hand is just how it sounds. It’s the strongest possible hand out of everyone’s, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house. It’s the very same concept in almost every poker game.
The low hand is more complicated, but certainly opens up the play. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that could be put together, with the lowest value being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Seeing as straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest value hand possible. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an eight and lower. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as does the higher hand. When there’s no low hand presented, the higher hand takes the complete pot.
While it seems complicated at the start, after a few rounds you will be agile enough to get the fundamental subtleties of the game simply enough. Since you have players betting for the low and betting for the high, and since such a large number of cards are in play, Omaha/8 provides an amazing collection of betting choices and because you have many individuals trying for the high, and several trying for the low hand.
