No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover anything he could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental comments from others destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He started competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
